Childhood
Education
Amelia's life style of being on the move did not change she grew. Amelia lived her younger life and went to school in Kansas, Iowa, and Minnesota before she graduated from Hyde Park High School in Chicago. Amelia excelled in chemistry during high school. However, Amelia continued having difficulty finding friends and spent most of high school alone. Her year book photo caption was "A.E. -- The girl in brown who walks alone."
Amelia did enroll at the pre-med school of Columbia University about a year later. After trying a year of schooling, Amelia dropped out and went to Los Angeles to be with her parents.

First Plane
After a few years of work as a nurse at the Spading Military Hospital, Amelia became very intrigued with planes and aviation. Soon after her first lesson, Amelia decided to take up odd jobs so she could continue to take lessons and eventually purchase a plane of her own. Only a short six months later, Amelia, with the help of her mother, earned enough money to buy her first airplane.
